Abstract
ABSTRACT
By using concept of uses regarding concept of activity, this research tries to dealt with phenomenon of media usage in a community. By determining community of UKM Pasar Malam Tarakan in listening to Radio Grass FM Tarakan broadcasting as population and respondents, and survey as a method, this research shows that generally the result has a relevance with theoretical assumption in theory model of uses and gratification. The relevance at least appears in responden’s radio-listening activities. These ones include both before, within, and after listening to Radio Grass FM.

ABSTRAK
Dengan menggunakan konsep uses dalam kaitan konsep aktifity, penelitian ini berupaya menelaah fenomena penggunaan media pada salah satu komunitas. Dengan menjadikan Kelompok UKM Pasar Malam Tarakan dalam mendengarkan siaran Radio Grass FM Tarakan, serta menjadikan survai sebagai metodenya, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa secara umum hasilnya memang memiliki relevansi dengan asumsi-asumsi teoritis yang dikemukakan dalam model teori uses and gratification. Relevansi itu setidaknya tampak dari memang adanya aktifitas dikalangan responden itu dalam kaitan mendengarkan radio. Aktifitas dimaksud, baik pada saat sebelum mendengarkan radio Grass FM, maupun pada saat selama dan setelah mendengarkan radio Grass FM.
