POLA PENGGUNAAN MEDIA KOMUNIKASI

Abstract
Dengan dilatarbelakangi pemunculaan jenis media baru di lingkungan masyarakat, sehubungan dengan perkembangan TIK, penelitian ini mempelajari fenomena pola aktivitas penggunaannya di kalangan masyarakat. Studinya dilakukan dengan metode survei terhadap 400 responden di empat kota propinsi, yaitu Jambi, Bengkulu, Pangkal Pinang, dan Jakarta. Dari hasil diskusi dapat disimpulkan bahwa pola aktivitas penggunaan media oleh mayarakat itu, secara empirik memang sudah mengalami perubahan. Namun demikian, perubahan yang muncul sehubungan karena adanya penambahan dua jenis media baru yaitu (internet dan HP) tampak sifatnya baru sebatas pelengkap media konvensional saja. Sementara media konvensional sendiri tampak tetap masih menjadi media yang dominan dalam pola aktivitas penggunaan media masyarakat.
