AKTIFITAS KOMUNIKASI DAN MEDIA SOSIAL(Survai Pola Komunikasi Masyarakat DKI Jakarta Melalui Social Network Sites)

Abstract
ABSTRACT
This research dealts with people’s communication activities by social network sites. To answer it, -by
survey method- this one observed that phenomenon on the basis of activities introduced by Levy and
Windahl, activities are divided into two dimension, dimension of communication sequence especially
in activities“during”of media exposure. Variety of communication activities through social networking
sites indicates that in terms of the media use including internet, individuals activly direct themselves.
They become active independent selectors to meet with their satisfaction. These research findings
provide empirical facts that strengthen the assumptions of uses and gratification theory model. The
reason why the respondents have a specific activity pattern in the use of social networking sites,
according to the assumption of uses-and-gratification theory model, it results from antecedent
variable e.g., motive, individual characteristics and the like.For further researches, it needs to involve
antecedent variables in research so as to be a guide to obtain empirical data for uses-and-
gratification theory model development.

ABSTRAK
Riset ini pada persoalan bagaimana aktifitas komunikasi masyarakat melalui social network sites.
Dalam upaya menjawab persoalan tersebut, melalui metode survai penelitian ini mengoservasi
fenomena dimaksud berdasarkan penggunaan konsep aktifitasnya Levy dan Windahl, aktifitas dalam
dimensi kedua, dimensi urutan komunikasi terutama pada aktifitas selama terjadinya terpaan media.
Ragam aktifitas komunikasi melalui situs jejaring sosial mengindikasikan bahwa dalam kaitan
penggunaan media termasuk medium internet, individu itu aktif atau mengarahkan dirinya sendiri.
Individu sepenuhnya menjadi selektor aktif yang independen guna memenuhi kepuasan dirinya.
Temuan riset ini kembali menjadi fakta empirikal yang dapat memperkuat asumsi dalam model teori
uses and gratification. Penyebab mengapa kalangan responden dalam penelitian ini menjadi memiliki
pola-polanya secara tertentu dalam beraktifitas menggunakan situs jejaring sosial tadi, sesuai dengan
asumsi dalam model teori uses and gratification, penyebabnya berkaitan dengan variabel anteseden
seperti motif, karakteristik individu dan sejenisnya. Peneliti yang tertarik melakukan penelitian serupa
di masa mendatang, kiranya sangat perlu memasukkan variabel anteseden tadi dalam riset sebagai
penuntun bagi perolehan data empirik demi pengembangan model teori uses and gratifitcation.
