Jurnal ini awalnya bernama “Jurnal Penelitian Pers dan Pendapat Umum” yang terbit sejak tahun 1997 dengan frekuensi terbit berkalasetiapempatbulan (bulan April, Agustus, danDesember). Tahun 2007 berganti nama menjadi “Jurnal Penelitian Komunikasi dan Opini Publik”. Tahun 2016 berdasarkan kebijakan Jurnal ini terbit dalam dua versi dan dua bahasa, versi cetak berbahasa indonesia dan versi elektronik berbahasa inggris

Renamed in 2007 in Being " Journal of Communication and Public Opinion Research" . in 2016 based on the policy, journal published with two version, the printed version withIndonesian language and the electronic version with English language
