Abstract
Proses komunikasi antar manusia terjadi dalam beberapa konteks atau level (lihat, Ifante, Rancer, dan Womack,1990:124-127; littlejohn (2005:11), yaitu interpersonal, kelompok, public dan komunikasi organisasi, dan yang paling komplek yaitu level mass (massa).
Dalam aplikasinya, konteks massa tersebut dilakukan dengan atau tanpa media. Namun, seperti dikatakan Littlejohn, biasanya ini dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan media. Terkait dengan pemanfaatannya, maka ada yang melalui media elektronik (televisi, radio), cetak (press, missal suratkabar, majalah) dan belakangan ada yang melalui media online.
