Abstract
ABSTRACT
The phenomenon of the development of ICT allows the public to use convergence media (internet).
This study focuses on the use of the internet among community members in Kelurahan Tamamaung,
Kecamatan Panakkukang, Kota Makassar. By using the survey method and using the concept of
activity introduced by Levy in second dimension in context of uses concept in model of uses and
gratificationintroduced by Katz, Gurevitch dan Hass, this research conclude that assumption in model
of uses and gratification theory that audience activities in consuming the media is proven. the proof is
the presence of diverse activities of internet use in the second dimension. Variety phenomenon of
Internet usage activity itself becomes the pattern for every individual who theoretically according to
model assumptions uses and gratification theory get formed because of fullfilling each satisfaction.

ABSTRAK
Berlatarbelakangkan fenomena perkembangan ICT yang memungkinkan anggota masyarakat
menggunakan media konvergensi (internet), penelitian ini memfokuskan permasalahannya pada soal
penggunaan internet anggota masyarakat di Kelurahan Tamamaung, Kecamatan Panakkukang, Kota
Makassar. Dengan menggunakan metode survai melalui pemakaian konsep aktifitas Levy dalam
dimensi kedua dalam konteks konsep uses dalam model teori uses and gratification Katz, Gurevitch
dan Hass, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa asumsi yang dikemukakan oleh model teori uses and
gratification bahwa adanya aktifitas khalayak dalam mengkonsumsi media itu, memang terbukti dalam
penelitian ini. Bukti itu ditandai oleh adanya ragam fenomena aktifitas penggunaan internet dalam
dimensi kedua tadi. Ragam fenomena aktifitas penggunaan internet itu sendiri, tampak menjadi pola
tersendiri bagi setiap individu yang notabene secara teoritis menurut asumsi model teori uses and
gratification terbentuk karena dorongan untuk memenuhi kepuasan masing-masing.
