Perbandingan Paradigma Otoritarianisme dan Demokrasi dalam Regulasi Media Massa di Indonesia (Comparing Authoritarianism and Democracy Paradigm in Mass Media Regulations in Indonesia)

Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan melakukan perbandingan terhadap paradigma regulasi media di Indonesia, yakni media cetak (pers), penyiaran, dan film. Dengan menggunakan studi komparasi, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa paradigma dominan yang mendasari regulasi media di Indonesia berbeda-beda. Regulasi pers menganut paradigma demokratis, penyiaran semi demokratis, sedangkan film cenderung otoritarian. Ada banyak faktor yang menyebabkan regulasi media di Indonesia menganut paradigma yang berbeda-beda, di antaranya semakin lemahnya tekanan masyarakat sipil, kuatnya oligarki dalam politik kebijakan media di Indonesia, serta menguatnya kelompok status quo (terutama pemerintah) yang menghendaki pemerintah sebagai regulator media seperti era otoritarianisme Orde Baru. Faktor-faktor ini memberikan pengaruh terhadap pilihan paradigma yang dianut dalam mengembangkan regulasi media di Indonesia.
