Twitter dan Masa Depan Politik Indonesia: Analisis Perkembangan Komunikasi Politik Lokal Melalui Internet

Abstract
Survei yang dilakukan oleh MarkPlus Inc. menyebutkan bahwa sampai dengan akhir tahun 2013 jumlah pengguna internet di Indonesia tercatat hampir mencapai 74 juta orang. Jumlah pengguna internet yang besar tersebut dimanfaatkan oleh politikus, khususnya di tingkat lokal untuk berkomunikasi lebih aktif dengan masyarakat guna mendapat dukungan pada waktu pemilihan berlangsung. Penelitian ini memfokuskan bagaimana peran media sosial, terutama twitter bagi masa depan komunikasi politik di Indonesia. Paper ini sekaligus melihat sejauhmana peran twitter dalam meningkatkan partisipasi politik di masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis isi dengan melihat jumlah tweets dan isi dari tweets politikus tersebut. Penelitian ini bertempat di Malang, Jawa Timur. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas twitter yang aktif tidak berkorelasi dengan kemenangan pasangan calon. Artikel ini sekaligus mempertimbangkan gejala-gejala kekinian dari komunikasi politik kontemporer melalui media sosial sebagai salah satu alat analisis.
