Journal IPTEK-KOM has a mission to enrich the scientific discourse in the fields of information and communication technology.

The scope of Journal IPTEK-KOM includes in 2 (two) major areas: Media and Communication Studies, and Digital Public Policy.

Peer Review Process

  • All manuscripts received are subject to (blind) double anonymoues peer review process by competent reviewers in the relevant field (and are expected to meet standards of academic excellence).
  • Manuscripts are reviewed blind name through double anonymous peer review
  • The selection of competent reviewers is part of editorial policies. Reviewers include researchers, practitioners, and academicians, in the fields of communications and informatics
  • Each submitted manuscript will go through a peer-review process by 1 editors and 2 reviewer with the following stages: 
  1. The editor performs an adminstrative assessment of the submitted manuscript. Manuscript that do not pass the assessment will be returned to the authors with editor's note (rejected or revision). Editor continues the manuscripts that passed the technical and administrative assessment for the blind review process. 
  2. Section editor performs a technical assessment of the manuscript that has been revised by author. The manuscript that passes the technical assessment will be reviewed by the reviewer. 
  3. Reviewer review the script and make recommendation
  4. Editor submits the results of the assessment and recommendation to the author along with the deadline for revision.
  5. Editor will send a ready-to-publish copy to the author before it is issued for approval and can not be withdrawn.
 

Publication Frequency

Jurnal IPTEK-KOM is published twice a year, in June (first edition) and December (second edition)

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

 

Submission Fees

The submission process and the published articles are free of charge. Our publishing process was already funded by BPPKI Yogyakarta, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Republic Indonesia.

 

Plagiarsm Screening Policy

  1. All received manuscripts will go through plagiarism screening process by the editorial board.
  2. The manuscript that submitted into this journal will be screened for plagiarism using TurnItIn
  3. The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works. If the author(s) use other's works and/or words then they must be cited or quoted appropriately.
  4. The author must sign a statement of ethical publications and send back to the editorial board. Publication Ethic Statement can be download here

History

Jurnal IPTEK-KOM’s first publication was in 1998 and frequently published twice a year June and December, until now. At the time, BPSDMP Kominfo Yogyakarta was known as Balai Penelitian Pers dan Pendapat Umum (BP3U) under Departemen Penerangan RI (Department of Information of the Republic of Indonesia). At that time, the scope of the journal was communication and media studies. We got our p-ISSN with number 1440-3346.

Since then, the institution of the publisher of IPTEK-KOM changed according to the era of government. From BPPI Yogyakarta (became BPPKI Yogyakarta and finally became BPSDMP Yogyakarta. BPSDMP Kominfo Yogyakarta is a Technical Executive Unit under Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan SDM (Agency of Research and Development of Human Resources), Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika RI (the Ministry of Communications and Informatics of the Republic of Indonesia).  

In 2017, Jurnal IPTEK-KOM is going to implement electronically accessed journal system management. The scope is related to information and communication technology, media and communication studies, and public policy. Our e-ISSN is 2527-4902.

Jurnal IPTEK-KOM got the national accreditation from  Kementerian Ristek Dikiti in September 2018 with accreditation number 21/E/KPT/2018, July, 9th 2018. 

Jurnal IPTEK-KOM applied the re-accreditation process in 2020. Based on Accreditation number 148/E/KPT/2020, August, 3th 2020 from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic Of Indonesia, Jurnal IPTEK-KOM has been accredited in SINTA 2 since Volume 21 No 2 December 2019.

In 2023, Jurnal IPTEK-KOM managed by Communication Science Department UGM.
